Port Isaac is a local fishing village about 5 miles from Trebetherick. Nearby is the hamlet of Port Gaverne which is normally considered part of Port Isaac, despite having its own individual history.
The village has celebrity status. The local village hall has been decorated by the team of DIY SOS; in 2005 the village was again used for the backdrop to the TV production of The Shell Seekers starring Vanessa Redgrave;
In 2000 the successful comedy Saving Grace was filmed in around Port Isaac and was the inspiration for Doc Martin
Since 2004 Port Isaac has been transformed into Portwenn for the hugely successful Doc Martin.
Port Isaac is also home to the famous Fishermans Friends who can be found singing their tradional sea shanties on the Platt at Port Isaac on a Friday evening in Summer
